It is a Pro D day today so no new assigned work.
Date and time change - Monday at 11:00: Class meeting Due to a conflict on Wednesday I will be hosting the class meeting on Monday. Please mark this day and time down and set a reminder if needed so that you can attend.
Please ensure you have completed, and where necessary, uploaded the following:
1) Digital Citizenship Poster Project - FreshGrade - due yesterday
Important for those who did a power point -If you have completed a power point you are to download it to the desktop then upload to FreshGrade. If you cannot download it as you do not have ppt on your desk top, share it with me in editing mode so that I can download it on my computer and then upload it for you.
2) Blog Post - make sure you have completed giving feedback and then revising your work - due today
3) Videoblogs - due today
4) For Monday - final copy of Letter to Self - be sure to read how I want you to submit the final - it must be on the same document as the draft but copied and pasted below so that I can see the difference between the first and second piece. Make changes to the copied one, not the draft.
Enjoy your weekend!
Important Updates: Here goes today's shout out to those students who were great readers yesterday: Bhargavi, Jesi, Ella, Josh, Jeevan, Kai, Nadine, Matthew, Alexis, Shayla, Jasreen, Sasha, Xavier, Aaina, Audrey, and Alex. You found the hidden statement - yahoo! We are aiming for all 25 of you to be included in this list.
Check your emails this morning for updates on incomplete assignments. The following message is for those students who are handing in assignments late and those that I am consistently connecting with asking where the work is. The hidden message is not in the paragraph below.
Math: answers to yesterday's assignment can be found in the Math File in Teams; if you are reading this let me know what your favorite fruit is in the comments section; complete quiz by 4:00 found in the Assignments Tab of Teams
Blog Post: Today you should be taking the feedback you received and applying it. Revise your original post using the feedback and post it below your original post. It should go-your post, feedback, your revised post, all in one thread. Read the instructions carefully that are on the Blog Post page - due today
Digital Citizenship: continue working on poster project, power point, creating a poster (does not need to be poster size) by hand and uploading image, or using word and the draw capabilities on word. Assignment in Teams/Files/Week 4/Digital Citizenship. Upload to FreshGrade due today
Writing: Teams/Files/Week 4/LA - Letter To Self - Final Copy due Monday
P.E.: Yoga Thursday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kJgTouHHeE

Pro D - Friday May 1 - this is a day for you to complete all assignments and make sure they are all handed in.
I had to copy this photo from Mr. Stewart's website as it is what we all are feeling when it comes to communicating with 25 students on line. I will discuss this further during our class chat today.
Here is an example of the frustrations of ensuring all of you read instructions carefully.
If you open up your "Letter to Self" document and you see no comments left by me it is because you did not follow the directions on how to share it so that I can comment. Go back to the instructions, read them over, and then re-share. Once that is done I can give the feedback.
3) Digital Citizenship: continue working on poster project, power point, creating a poster (does not need to be poster size) by hand and uploading image, or using word and the draw capabilities on word. Assignment in Teams/Files/Week 4/Digital Citizenship- due Thursday
4) Writing: Teams/Files/Week 4/LA - Letter To Self -
6) P.E.: Coach Foy "wellness Wednesday" here
7) Band: practice the new songs as instructed on Mr. Melnyk's Hillcrest Band Class in Teams
Math session - 1:00 each day (not Thursday as that is quiz day) everyone is welcome
Class Meeting - 10:30 today
For this week's class meeting I would like anyone with questions about anything at all (school, not school, Covid, not Covid, .. anything) send me your questions in a direct chat to me any time prior to Wednesday at 10:00. This week's meeting will mainly be you talking and sharing with each other. I do not want to be the only voice you hear so send me the questions. I will call on those who have submitted their questions to talk and share and welcome others to respond when possible.
Important Updates: I uploaded Math Journal images in the Week 4 Math file that show the formulas for all three areas we have covered so far. Be sure to use these as you work through the problems. It is often a confusion for students to remember the difference between area of parallelogram and area of a triangle.
I no longer require you to check in on the chat. If you wish to say hello you are welcome to do so but it no longer is a requirement.
Math session - 1:00 each day (not Thursday as that is quiz day) everyone is welcome - maybe you have one question you are unsure of, maybe you just want clarification on something, maybe you are not quite understanding the videos, or maybe you simply want to connect with some of your peers - anyone and all are welcome. You can stay for 5v minutes or 35 minutes depending on what you need.
Class Meeting - 10:30 Wednesday For this week's class meeting I would like anyone with questions about anything at all (school, not school, Covid, not Covid, .. anything) send me your questions in a direct chat to me any time prior to Wednesday at 10:00. This week's meeting will mainly be you talking and sharing with each other. If you are reading this share a knock knock joke in the comments of this page. I do not want to be the only voice you hear so send me the questions. I will call on those who have submitted their questions to talk and share and welcome others to respond when possible.
Just a few of you still need to complete the home cooking assignment - be sure to include the menu, the paragraph and the images. I loved seeing all the meals that were prepped and served. Your parents must have been thrilled to have someone cook for them. I will start posting photos soon of the many meals created.
Please watch the video for today's Monday morning check in.
I have created a google slide show of all the Spreading Positivity images. It is so great to see how each of you contributed to making your community a happy place to live in. For today when you read this I want you to share in the comments of this page, what animal you would own if you could own anything in the world. If it's a dog name the breed.
Important Update fo Thursday:
b) complete yesterday's assignment before moving on to today's work
c) today's work go to Week Three (April 20 - 24) and look for April 23 to complete
Important Update for Wednesday:
A. If you are behind in assignments, I have emailed you. If you are really behind I have emailed you and your parents. It was a tough day for me chasing down students who are not doing the assigned work. I don't want to spend my time reminding you about assignments, I want to help you with them.
B. If you were one of the students who received an email regarding incomplete assignments, it is your responsibility to email me letting me know you are all up to date. Make sure that everything has been uploaded and I can see it on FreshGrade.
C. Ask for help if you need it!
I am a grade 7 teacher who has been teaching in the Surrey School District for over 28 years. I love to read, garden, walk, and spend time with family, friends and my golden retriever Kona.
