This afternoon students were led through an activity that showcased the importance of time for creativity to happen. This was the lead in to Genius Hour #2. The first photo is of a product a student was able to create in ten seconds where as the second photo allowed the student 10 minutes for draw time - quite a difference on the level of creative thinking. If we are to think outside of the box and be creative in our approach to learning, we need time to do so. That is why, in genius hour, students are given chunks of time to dig deeper into what they are passionate about.
1) French test - Tuesday
2) Genius Hour - Plan is completed and ready to be signed off for Monday. Please share your plan and your question with a parent this weekend and have them sign the planning page.
3) Raffle tickets - please see and return as soon as possible. More tickets can be picked up if you wish. Please return any unsold books.
4) Comments - Now that you have had time to think more critically of the question you wished to ask in Genius Hour, share this question. What other sub questions have you also realized that you will need to learn about? What are you most excited about with this GH session?
Last Minute Decision: For the last hour of the day tomorrow we will play board games. If you have one you wish to share please bring it along.

We couldn't have asked for a better way to start our day then enjoying the sun with a good book. Students have been very engaged in the novels they are reading for the book club. I have been very impressed with the quality of the blogging for these books. Please check out the link, Book Club, to read the on-going conversations; the deep thinking and questioning is developing well. Students will need to keep up with their reading and blogging over the weekend.
Tapping into the students' creativity will be a focus next week in math. A final project was handed out today and the planning has begun. Students will be creating a space that incorporates all of the concepts covered this term in the measurement unit.
1) LA - Read and blog. Remember that one of the learning intentions is to promote thinking. Asking great questions and respond to others to start building evidence of this within your learning.
For those who are already well into their books and are confident with their ability to promote conversations on a blog, here is the link to the other 4 divisions' book club websites: Book Club Sites. You are encouraged to find others who are reading the same novel and add to their discussions. This will be more evidence to meet the learning intentions.
2) Math - Complete the worksheet on finding the area of a circle.
