Roving reporter for Science project.
Lots going on in the class today and students are feeling the crunch as we near the end. In Language Arts students received teacher feedback on combined journals and began to produce their third and final one. They also had a chance to show their understanding of the Rights of the Child through a comprehension activity using Comic Life. This allows students to show their learning in a creative manner.
After today the students only have one class left to work on their group projects. We talked a bit today about the need for one student to take on a leadership role when working in groups. Without one member bringing everyone together, laying out a game plan, and setting time lines to achieve a positive end result teams will go around in circles achieving very little. Taking on the role of leader is never easy but very necessary.
To end the day Hillcrest was very lucky to watch a performance by a variety of first nations people. We learned some history, watched some dances and heard some wonderful drumming. What a fabulous assembly for all.
A quote to help keep us going:
1) LA - combined journal #3 draft due Tuesday. This must be completed and ready to go for peer editing on Tuesday. Please be sure to print off a copy at home or come in early so you do not waste valuable peer time. Published and polished copy due on Friday.
- Rights of the Child assignment - due Wednesday (will have time on Tuesday and Wednesday to work on this in class. Make sure you plan your time well)
2) Science - Group presenation due on Wednesday. Check the drive for the criteria on both the individual component and group component. KNow what you need to do and get at it. Set a goal at home as to what needs to be accomplished.
