The day has finally arrived - the excitement was palpable - the Titan Amazing Race is only hours away! It was hard to contain the excitement today in the grade 6/7 classrooms as the kids tried to focus on learning. They were able to complete the peer assessment on the I am Poem and many finished typing up their work make revisions where needed. This afternoon 'Crimson' added on to his first lesson from Tuesday regarding color in graphic design. The students seem to be very interested in this topic and I am thrilled to have one of my grade 7s share their knowledge and passion with the class.

Homework

1) Math -  Gr 7s - pg 10 #5-11, Worksheet 1.2
                 Gr 6s Ms H - booklet

2) Socials - for Tuesday - gather all the personal information from each of your years and make a list on a piece of paper. Also, start gathering photos to use.

I loved The Titan Amazing Race! This was an awesome idea and holy cow was it fun. I think for the teachers make groups that may work better together because my group consisted of two girls talking in a different language because one of them didn't understand the information given. I also didn't like the time limit so I say start the race earlier then before. For the games, I liked the games with running and there where only 2 or 3 so definitely add more physical.
Anyways, see you all Monday!

Mabey if the challenges were harder like the gumball walking challenge. I believe if the disence was longer then it would be harder or there is a seconed round you would half to put 2 on the spoon and hold it with your other hand. Can't wait to everyone on Tuesday. Bye!!!

The amazing race was so fun! I think it was good that the teachers split up the 100 of us into two groups, because if not, it would be SO CHAOTIC! One thing I think he teachers could've done differently is make more challenges that aren't super hard (the house of cards) and ones that aren't way too easy (keep the balloon in the air), like the station where we had to find the Harry Potter books was my favourite because it wasn't extremely hard but it wasn't too easy. The best part of the amazing race for me was the station where it was an obstacle course, it would've been easier if we could've ran.... But it was a good workout! Once we finished though, they said we could've ran.... It was still fun!!!

Signing off,

I never went in the Mrs. Wilson's class during the race, because the first 3 that went in (I was selected to be the last person) took so long. :(

I really liked the "guess that logo" one because there were a few that I didn't know and we got them all right. I also liked the "room of darkness" one were you tried to find the books.
See you Monday.

I had a lot of fun in the amazing race! I also had a lot of fun during The Hunger Games in the gym it was so much fun. I think that us grade 6/7's should do that more often because we all had a blast. I think that is probably the most exciting event that we have done yet.

See you all on Monday!

The Titan amazing race was a blast! The best part to me was when we went into a dark room and had to use a flash light to find Harry Potter books. I would suggest for a future event that we don't have all that time in the gym. We had to play the hunger games 6 times. We were in the gym for 2 and a half hours! I would rather just do the amazing race challenges.

I had fun at the amazing, but I thought it would be more extreme. What made our team successfull was how we worked together to finish the task. My favourite task was the one where we were sapposed to find the Harry Potter books in the dark. This task was tricky because we had to find them in the dark with a flashlight. The pizza was pretty good to.

I liked every station except for the hard ones such as "The House of Cards." I also liked the games that we played in the gym. Next time, I would suggest, we have additional stations outside, so that everyone is doing stations every moment.

The Amazing Race was so fun! All the stations were very fun. Some were quite easy but fun, like the keva block building one and the balloon station and others were a fun challenge like the house of cards (which I think I only enjoy because our group pioneered a tactic which we used to complete the challenge in the last five seconds), or maybe the blind obstacle course. My favorite event was the normal obstacle course because it was basically like a mixture of a few events. We had to search for items, run around the school, throw beanbags into a basket and complete a word search in 8 minutes. I am really happy about the team I was put in, even though I was the only grade 7 we had an equal split of talent amongst the group and we did not have any weak link. Our teamwork and individual skills might have been enough to award us with the win, guess we will see on Tuesday. I can't wait!

The Amazing Race was so much fun, working together as a team was a blast! I loved that we had a chance to do this extraordinary activity. My favorite part was station 2, where we had to run around the school finding objects such as a blue pencil crayon. One thing that I will probably remember for a long time was how we had to work as a team. I did not know some people in my group which made it more challeging to work together. I would suggest making the Amazing Race longer in time so students could have more fun and I would also want more stations that are very challenging. Overall it was a great experience.

The titan amazing race was really fun. It was like a 2 and a half hour gym block for the first part the all of the really fun games. My favourite part was the book game because we it was really fun looking for it and my team finished first in it. One thing that I would change for next time is make them so that you finish it in 7 or 8 minutes, because for games like gumball walk we finished it in like a minute and games like the puzzle, nobody finished it.
See you tomorrow.

I think the best thing was geting to know everyone there. The one thing I think they could of done better is not making the stations super hard or super easy.I will most likely remember running through the halls of the school trying to get to the next station.

The Titan amazing race was so fun mostly towards the middle which was when we played hunger games. At the beginning some of the games we played were mostly for little kids like the chicken game we played I think the teachers overall did a wonderful and an amazing job I cant imagine how much effort the teachers must have put into this and I wanna say thank you to you guys.

Thank you teachers

I think that Ms.Wilson's room of darkness was very fun. I think next time we should have games that dosen't involve throwing ball at people, lots of people got hurt during this. We can all bring board games next time.

I think the amazing race should be an annual event at HillCrest. It was a fun idea over all and I had lots of fun doing it. I think there should be more tasks though and more physically challenging obstacles. I really liked the beginning of it though playing games in the gym and eating pizza. I also think that the parent helpers from the last station you did should give you your next clue and you have to finish it or go to a pit stop to win. Also all teams should do the same task at once and maybe make smaller teams.

See you Tuesday :)

I totally think the amazing race should be an annual Hillcrest event. Personally I preferred the amazing race part as to the games in the gym, just because they were a lot more organized and used a lot more brain power. I think the best part of it was running through the halls getting from station to station. Some of the memories I will for sure keep for many years to come is throwing the chicken ball thing into the basketball hoop when I was on the other side of the gym. Another thing I would totally keep is winning the hunger games again, which was cool because it was against like half of the grade 6/7s. One thing I would change is the house of cards game. That was WAY to hard. But besides that one little station, I think the teachers did an amazing job planning this. Thanks so much, Mrs.Middleton!
See you tomorrow!

I liked the hunger games more than the events mainly because some of the instructions were really hard to understand and if we played better games in the race like the balloon game and the Jenga game it would of been more fun. I also I think that we should have some games in the race outside. But it was still a blast and I would rally enjoy it if we could do it again sometime

The Amazing Race was so fun it had me on my toes all the time. I think this should happen every year because it is so fun and exciting and you get to meet new people and learn about teamwork. And how to use different things to complete different tasks my favriote station had to be the dark room where you had to find the harry potter books it was so cool. And when we weren't doing the Amazing Race we played hunger games for about 2 hours best PE ever...

I already commented on Friday but I guess it didn't go through so I'll comment again.

I thought the 'Amazing Race' was fun, I really liked the 'Hunger Games' and just the idea of racing and competing in creative stations.
