Memories of 2014-15

To the students of Division 1 2014/15,
I  know that at certain points in a year it can feel like time is standing still. But for the most part this year flew by and I would like to pull it back and do it again. You all worked so hard in your learning; it is amazing to think back to where you began and to how far you have come. All of you need to be proud of how you have matured and grown over the past 10 months. There are so many great moments that it is absolutely impossible to pick out a favorite few. Watching the animoto video below brings back the memories of the year and reminds me how special each of you are.
To the grade 6s - I am so excited to know that I still get another year with you, and what a year it will be.

To the grade 7s - it is time to say farewell but not good bye. Think back to the beginning of September 2013 - can you remember how nervous some of you were (well maybe many) of entering the grade 6/7 zone? Can you remember how unsure you felt especially entering a class that already had grade 7s from the previous year? Some of you were oh so shy, scared to take a risk in your learning, yet you have learned to take that leap.  Some were oh so silly, trying to draw attention away from your own insecurities, yet you have come to believe in yourself and your potential. And some of you were ready to take on the world and be leaders, you just needed a little guidance and reassurance.
To be a teacher is one of the greatest professions to have. Even the days that I wake up and would rather hang out in bed, I know that when I get to school and see each of you, my day will be brightened.
To Neon Cookies - I learned from you that I need to laugh at myself more often, as when we laugh, the weight on our shoulders becomes lighter.
To Ringpop - Your work ethic and commitment to improve yourself as a learner reminded me to never take the easy route out.
To Mind Boggler - From you I have learned to never step aside and watch when a hand is needed. Whether it be a simple job in the classroom, or coming to the rescue of another student, you taught us all to always do what is right.
To Lane 4 - I learned to never judge a book by its cover, as inside may lie the most beautiful story!
To Cat - I learned that taking the time to uncover what is hidden underneath the layers is the most important aspect of my working with kids. You taught me to look more closely and take more time as every child deserves this.
To Happy Face - You inspired me to learn more and to always be inquisitive and curious. You inspired me to vary my interests and look outside my box more often.
To Mr. Gummy Bear - You taught me to never under estimate the influence I have on the students I teach. The importance of believing in the potential of each child will be the legacy you leave with me - always believe in your ability and your potential - I do!
To Shaggy - You reminded me that choice in learning is what is central for success. Being open to non-traditional ways of learning such as standing up when restless or plugging in to music, can make all the difference.
To Tinkerbell - From you I learned to be patient and be still. At times the importance of simply listening allows us to truly hear what others have to say.
To Fluffy Bunny - You taught me to arrive each day with a smile on my face as even when we don't feel like being positive, by looking positive the world becomes a better place.
To King of the Ice - You have taught me to love life, to love all the smallest parts of life, and to laugh - laugh often and laugh hard so that my cheeks hurt!
To Red Coat - You taught me to accept everyone equally, to include all and to never judge those around you.  You also reminded me to give hugs more often. I will truly miss your end of the day hugs.
To Athena - I have learned that a great belly laugh is required each and every day. You taught me to simply enjoy life and not sweat the small stuff.
To Lucky Raspberry - I learned from you that I need to slow down, that not everything has to be done in a rush. If I were to slow down I could enjoy the small things more often and I be more present with those around me.
To Patrick - I learned to be more relaxed, to listen more carefully and to be more observant of the world. It is important once in awhile to step aside and let others take the lead.

I wish each and everyone of you the very best in the years to come. I know that you will all make me very proud!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Middleton

You are not a wimp for feeling happy and sad as you watched a review of the year. I would say you have stated what many others have felt. :)
