Today the grade 7s had a visiting math teacher. Mr, Garneau, a numeracy helping teaching from the school district, came to introduce percents using a strategy called 10 frames. It was great to have a new way of looking at how to understand math.
In LA division one continued to complete their first concrete poem. Some have handed in a finished product that showcases their understanding of this poetic form.
Socials tests were marked and reviewed. The results showed that most students have a much better understanding of the world and how to use latitude and longitude to locate places around the world.
1) LA - completed Concrete Poem is due for Monday.
2) Math -
3) Bring a Game Day - Friday - During math time we will be playing games. If you wish to bring a game that has some math involved in it please do so. Examples would be where cards are involved for counting, rolling of dice for counting or something along those lines.
4) Have Socials tests signed by a parent - due Monday.
5) Check your websites for communication from Romania. Spend some time responding to their questions and ask questions to them.
I am a grade 7 teacher who has been teaching in the Surrey School District for over 28 years. I love to read, garden, walk, and spend time with family, friends and my golden retriever Kona.
