Poetic devices, long division and geography of the world - quite an array of topics covered today. In Language Arts the students are demonstrating their knowledge of poetic devices through song lyrics. Similes, metaphors, alliteration and rhyme are all very evident within many songs as students are quickly realizing.
Yesterday I gave a mini pre test on geography skills to see where the students' knowledge was. It was quite evident that work needed to be done in a variety of areas so we started with the basics: what is a continent, country and province and where do we live. Becoming more familiar with the world is something that most students can work on.
